Through the ups and downs of life, we have a choice about what we focus on.  While it's tempting to focus horizontally only on what we can see on earth, the Psalms encourage us to lift our eyes to our maker and our help.  This posture frees us to depend on him and not ourselves, which in turn sets us free from our circumstances!
